Handan Figen (1983, Istanbul) began her art education at the Parsons Paris School of Design and Arts. Following her graduation in 2005 she entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and studied for 4 years at the studio of Jean-Michel Alberola.
She focused on a wide spectrum of practical fields including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, etching, lithography and photography. She took part in the exhibition “…Past… present… future…” held in 2004 at the Parsons Paris Gallery, followed by her first solo exhibition at the same venue. In 2008 she was awarded the Verdaguer award of the French Institute Fine Arts Academy by the selection of the artist Vlada Velickovic.
Her work mostly revolves around themes like the search for identity, the history of art, family, home, coincidences and shapes that form spontaneously.
She continues to work in Turkey and in France.
